Speculative Design Workshop

For this exercise I imagined a newspaper spreadsheet that would first introduce my topic to the world. I used a newspaper template and uploaded my own text and pictures. As I struggle to write captivating headlines and articles, I definitely need to work more on this assignment. But for a start, I definitely had some fun with the exercise.

"A Politician, a Scientist and a Philosopher” Exercise

For this I had to express the opinion of different types of people on my topic. In my imaginary newspaper I introduced an article written by a literature enthusiast,  “Anne, art critic and head editor at Humanitas publishing House”.

She can be regarded as a philosopher and idealist, who thinks faitytales have a lot to teach society, and she disregards the urgent pollution issues that are happening in the world (the newspaper is aired in an imaginary dystopian future).

The opposing article is written by “Adam Bromstocker, political activist and newspaper editor”. He is more interested in urgent matters, a science oriented person and can be considered both as Politician and Scientist. He is more concerned with what is happening in the world rather than fiction and fantasy.

I have also done a collage with newspapers and magazines I found in the studio and pinned them up. This is the result:

Blackout Poetry

For this exercise I picked an article related to my topic and blocked out most words in order to summarise the main concepts and ideas that made up the article.

Same exercise for an article in a current newspaper:

To think about important present issues in the world and how we could include them in our games to raise awareness, we were given artcles with data from the EUCentral. I picked the chapter on Education and used the same exercise. The results:
