We got a few tips on how to tackle the Proffesional Contexts module and how to learn from it:

· Take notes during talks

· Think about How it might impact your practice

· How you think it will improve your works


For the first session we also had to start a Linkedin profile and look at 2 game designers' portfolios and write a short text on why we like that portfolio. My 2 examples where:


We also got advice on how to set up our business cards and CV. Tips I noted down:


CV

  • Use to your advantage any job you had(frame it appropriately for the job you apply)

  • It is a creative CV (you apply to a creative industry)

  • Check spelling mistakes

  • Don’t put your age or birthday

  • Nothing personal

  • No gender, ethnicity, pronouns

  • Don’t add weird interests

  • Cv is an exercise in clear communication-make everything as accessible as possible

  • No skills and no rated skills

  • Don’t put your driving license


Covering letters

  • Tailor them for the company you apply for

  • Never say dear sir/madam. Its weird now

  • Keep it brief, format consistent’

  • Photograph your work with quality photos
